Goodbye, Jeter! We'll SO Miss You

2014. The year has come. One of the last of the 90s yankees is officially retiring. Come the end of the year, Jeter will be waving his classic Cal Ripken Jr. goodbye then go to his Brooklyn penthouse to anxiously wait for his number to be retired and get a possible nomination for the hall of fame (he wishes). The crowd cheers "Jeter! Jeter!" only to repeat the exact same thing they did with Mariano Rivera. I could care less. He's bound to be back doing SOMETHING. Most likely managing or working as a vender. Or even following Cal Ripken Jr's and volunteering because he totally wants to be seen like Cal. A drug-free player who likes to play not for the money but the fans and gives back to the community. Not going to happen.
On a brighter note, pitchers and catchers have officially reported meaning the new baseball season is under way. Manny's rehab is going as well as planned and should be ready near spring training or a week or so after opening day. The down side is there is no plans with a closer yet although speculating Burnett and Jimenez are possible options since rumor has it they've got plenty of more money in the bank to spend or well maybe after signing Wieters to a one year, $7.7 million dollar deal they may have to bargain to get what they want.

My reaction to the progress is just about as mixed as J.J. Hardy's.
